Kalyan-Dombivli is a twin city and a municipal corporation with its headquarters located in Kalyan in Thane district in the Indianstate of Maharashtra. It was formed in 1982 to administer the twin townships of Kalyan and Dombivli. The municipal corporation has a population 1,518,163 (2015 census), and covers 137.15 square km, giving a density of 8,700 people per square km Kalyan has a history of over 700 years.
