Bhavnagar is a city in the Bhavnagar district of the Saurashtra region of the Gujarat state of India.

As of 2011 India census, Bhavnagar had a population of 593,768. Bhavnagar has an average literacy rate of 86%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with male literacy of 91% and female literacy of 80%. 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.^[17] Adult males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%.
